Summer 2015 is almost here!

I mean just a few days away technically! Promises to be a busy one already... my daughter is away a total of nine weeks!
It will be a time of healing for me personally - was broken-hearted over a work-related disappointment.  I've been praying about paying attention to my health & my family - so my dream will remain shelved for a while as I wait patiently to know how God wants to see me - what His plans and dreams for me are. How will I know?  From the peace that will surely come!

This year my garden activities involved a lot of delays & dead plants - as they waited patiently in my garage to be grounded :-( The clematis remain unblossomed in the promise of these bulbs in the bag.  A lot of it was salavaged & found their homes - tomatoes - early girl, jersey, heirloom, beefsteak - peppers - sage even a pineapple kind - basil - green & black/purple (supposed to be medicinal) , rosemary, thyme, oregano, mint - and flowers & foliage.

On the knitting front I finished the eyelet shawlette - do wish that I had made it bigger.  After blocking I hope to give it to a dear aunt getting better right now in a hospital.
Almost done with fishbone dishcloth.  Found out that a co-worker who became a good friend is having a baby boy in August.  I know that this is a long-awaited event in her life so I am inspired to make a baby blanket in a sunshine yellow color!

Read a book, I should say skimmed through a book as I am frustrated in my efforts to stay organized. It helped reiterate some facts that I have resigned to - there is no best method to organization you have to find one that works for you & accept that it will keeping changing, there is no such thing as work-life balance as balance is suggestive of a compartmentalized entity - it has to be a blend!

So getting back to the book - its called Organization in the Google Era by Douglas Merrill & James Martin.  These are the principles of organization that they talk about
1.       Organize your life to minimize brain strain
2.       Get stuff out of your head as quickly as possible
3.       Multitasking can actually make you less efficient
4.       Use stories to remember
5.       Just because something’s always been done a certain way dosent mean it should be
6.       Knowledge is not power.  Sharing of knowledge is power.
7.       Organize around actual constraints, not assumed ones.
8.       Be completely honest – but never judgmental – with yourself.
9.       Know when to ignore your constraints.
10.   Know exactly where you’re going – and how you’ll get there – before you start the engine.
11.   Be flexible about how you achieve your goals.
12.   Don’t organize your information; search for it.
13.   Only keep in your head what truly needs to be there.
14.   Break big chunks into small ones.
15.   Dedicate time each week to reviewing key information.
16.   There’s no such thing as a perfect system of organization.
17.   Whenever possible, use the tools you already know.
18.   Add relevant keywords to your digital information so you can easily find it later.
19.   Group tasks with similar contexts together.
20.   Integrate work with life instead of trying to balance the two.
21.   Take notes to shift contexts later.
Well here's to a healthy and peaceful summer!!!
