Its cold out here!

Long spells of freezing temperatures seem to mark this winter! It already feels like a long hard week and we've only hit the middle of the week!

I like Ken Blanchard's style of writing - easy quick reads with good lessons to learn.  Sometimes overly simple but hey in this rapid-paced complicated information-filled world it can be refreshing to go quick & simple! Recently read through one such book called "The Secret: What Great Leaders Know & Do" with Mark Miller & Rick Adamson.

The secret is based on servant-leadership (SERVE) a style that has always attracted me & one that I aspire to have - if only my driven nature, impatience with perceived inefficiencies were not a hindrance.
S: See the future, i.e. have a vision
E: Engage and develop others, i.e. get others to join the "cause"
R: Reinvent Continuously, i.e. no problem here - I'm continuously finding new places to work, this morning I turned my desk around for a better layout with my computer screens! My children are always amused at how often I seek change in my place to work from.
V: Value Results & Relationships, i.e. results & people matter
E: Embody the values, i.e. walk the talk.

All important factors for any kind of success!

Spells of freezing temp days at a stretch seem to be the norm this winter! Brrrr... My lovely town has this family of snowpeople - started out with 3 folks a few weeks ago & the family grew with the last snowfall a few days ago!  They will soon be gone with Spring approaching!! Simply having a vision there!

The snow family reminded me of Annetka our baby-sitter - a gem of a person! Young, beautiful and highly energetic she gave my kids beautiful lasting memories with her presence in their lives for a couple of years.  She would frolic in the snow with them - make snow people, dress them up with our winter woollies and make them look live with raisin-eyes, carrot noses, and assorted items they could lay their hands on for other features!
I remember her coming into our home for an interview - all dressed up professionally, like she was going for an office job interview in NYC! When she actually started she was all comfortable in her sweats like an office professional working from home would be!

Hope things get "warmer" for you in every way!

Speaking of simple & powerful ... I needed this today to hang some of my burdens of this week!

So long ...

Day 1

Day 1 of the new blog.
I am a bit nervous about sustaining this blog business that I am starting yet again!  Want to make this into an online journal of the happenings in life.

A lot of the blogs I enjoy are from folks who are very witty, humorous or are excellent photographers! I am none of the above but hope my chatter can sometimes be interesting to others.

January 2015 was a month of "Organizing" publicity blitz, every magazine, social media info was filled with ideas on organizing and decluttering! The diet & weight loss sound bites seemed dampened in comparison.  I was impressed with a clump a day blog that I read last year - excellent blog from a highly creative person! She conquered the clutter in her house one clump at a time & captured it all with great pictures & words! I've easily been bitten by the organizing, time management, Getting Things Done (TM David Allen) over the years... But this year I think its time... I've reached that catalytic point in life!

My husband got us started by planning out shelf/closet spaces in the master bedroom & the basement. I pledged to make the label-maker my best friend. All that closet work was done today! Brand new paint - Day Spa - lovely silvery white - makes my closet look very spacious!

After a long time we have a down-time evening today... so here we are actually having agreed upon a movie to watch, "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids!".  Delicious Punjabi Samosas (Deep), Chicken Tikka Samosas from (TJ).  Tried out a great recipe for Sweet Potato Fries from "Our Best Bites, Mormon Moms in the Kitchen"  by Sara Wells & Kate Jones!  This is a great find, simple recipes with great pictures.  Check out their blog site Our Best Bites

Bible passages that I read in the past couple days that have had a special meaning to me - Genesis 39:1-6, 20-23, talking about God's favor on Joseph in the presence of his enemies.  The Lord showed Joseph his faithful love and caused everything he did to succeed.  That is my humble testimony too.  Hebrews 12:1-2 is another one - I need to run my race with endurance & keep my eyes on Jesus the champion & the author & perfector of my faith.

I've joined the 2015 Mystery Afghan knit-a-long, Week 2.

So long.
